At this point in your makeup journey, you know the negative results of not removing your makeup before bed. While we're proud of you for ensuring your face is makeup-free before slumber, we're here to humbly remind you that using makeup wipes is a big NO.

We'll grant you that they're good at wiping off stubborn lipstick and mascara but as far as cleaning your face? Girl, no'am. While quick and convenient, using them ultimately will wreak havoc on your skin. One would think that since it looks as if the makeup has disappeared, you don't need to follow up with an actual wash. Tuh, the scam of it all.

Why Are Makeup Wipes Bad For Your Skin?

Makeup wipes don't really clean your skin. In reality, they tend to spread around any makeup, dirt, and dead skin that might be present on your face, resulting in skin irritation. Moreover, makeup wipes can also lead to irritation due to the inclusion of preservatives used to prevent contamination. These preservatives, while necessary for maintaining the quality and safety of the wipes, can cause further irritation for those with sensitive skin.

If you find yourself in a pinch and don't have any makeup remover to take off your beat, the Hypebae Beauty Team has curated three DIY, tried-and-true methods you can use to remove the glam.

Lip Balm

The waxy formula of a lip balm is highly effective in breaking down and dissolving stubborn pigments. To tackle those heavy-duty matte colors, apply a thin and even layer of lip balm onto your lips. Allow the lip balm to work its magic for a few moments and then gently wipe it off with a tissue. This technique will help you eliminate any trace of color and leave your lips clean and fresh.

Honey

This DIY method comes from inside your pantry. Gently apply the honey onto your face, ensuring an even distribution across your skin. Allow it to sit on your face for approximately five minutes, giving the natural properties of honey enough time to work their magic. Once the five minutes are up, rinse off the honey with warm water. You'll instantly notice how your skin feels refreshed and revitalized as you do so.

In addition to its rejuvenating effects, this homemade technique is also gentle on the skin, making it suitable for all skin types. Whether you have dry, oily or sensitive skin, you can get into the benefits of this method without worrying about any adverse reactions.

Body Lotion

This everyday product can come to the rescue and effectively remove both foundation and eye makeup. Thanks to the nourishing oils found in the formulas, body lotion can dissolve and draw out heavily pigmented makeup, leaving your skin fresh and clean. However, it's important to be thorough in your removal process, ensuring that you wipe off all traces of makeup to prevent any potential clogging of your precious pores.
