If you want to update your mundane two-step skincare routine, TikTok has a new method that may pique your interest and highly benefit you. "Dry Cleansing" has gladly entered the chat.

What is Dry Cleansing?

Dry cleansing is a technique that doesn't involve water. Instead of wetting your face before you apply your regular cleanser/face wash, you will rub the product into dry skin before rinsing it off with water.

TikTokers have been in favor of this method with claims that their skin's appearance changed for the better and that this routine helps clear pores and minimize sebum production thanks to the undiluted nature and the concentration of the active ingredients within the ash being able to penetrate more deeply into the skin.

Does Dry Cleansing Work?

Hear us out: The answer here is yes and no.

The key to having a positive dry cleansing experience boils down to the type of cleanser you use. Gel or foam-based cleansers are made with a large amount of water, ultimately leading to the risk of tight skin following dry cleansing. People with highly sensitive or chronic skin concerns (like eczema or psoriasis) should not try this method.

However, if you're feeling frisky, we advise opting for a cleanser that doesn't contain acid.

On the other hand, those with oily or acne-prone skin will get their lives from the dry cleansing method. The skin will experience all of the benefits of your usual cleansing care.
