The festive season is upon us and it's only befitting to ensure that you have your skincare to help you glow for the upcoming holidays. As the fun late nights pull up on us, there's no denying that your skin will be put to the test.

We're talking dark under eyes, dull skin, acne breakouts, dehydrated skin — the works. While we're not telling you not to add the blush or finish off with as much highlighter as you can fit onto your face, we advise that you put your skin first. There's a luxury in the pre-party pampering as it is a form of self-care. A glowing skin regimen won't just bring out your inner radiance; it also allows your makeup to sit better on the skin. Suppose you've been experiencing any silly concerns during the warmer months —no worries, as we've got the tools to help you rectify that for the party moments ahead of us. Keep reading on for more.

Step 1: Cleanse

The number one rule is to always start with clean skin. Find a face pH-balanced gentle gel cleanser that does not strip. Be mindful to avoid any aggravating ingredients or harsh scrubs. (Yes, this is not the time to try new AHAs or BHAs.)

Step 2: Incorporate a face mask

Face masks are quite the luxury. They allow infused ingredients to penetrate your skin in a shorter amount of time, giving you that red carpet celebrity glow.

Step 2: Moisturize

Hydrated skin is the fundamental base for achieving flawless makeup application. As a beauty editor, I live by my adage, "It's the skin underneath that matters the most to makeup." A lightweight water-based moisturizer will keep your skin thirst-free without clogging the pores to ensure your skin stays quenched the entire evening.

Step 3: Use face oil as a primer

Face oils lower inflammation, add moisture and allows the makeup to float on the skin instead of settling into the pores to induce creasing, cracking, and fine lines.

Step 4. Eye creams

The skin underneath the eyes is the thinnest and most sensitive. Using a hydrating eye cream is essential to avoid concealer creasing but you also rejuvenate the eyes with hydration. (See the common theme here? Hydration is key.)
